The phenomenon of different forms of an element having different physical properties but similar chemical properties is called allotropy. The various forms are called allotropes.
Eg: Carbon exists in three pure crystalline forms ––– Diamond, Graphite and Fullerenes.
Allotropes of Carbon except diamond, graphite and fullerenes all other forms are amorphous allotropes of carbon.
