4. The value of y is 18 and the value of x is 8. Find the value of is
Sol:

5. Find the value of
Sol: The value of = 0.888.....
  The answer can be filled in grid in form in the following 3 ways
  You should record the answer as or 0.888 or 0.889
  The grid in form is

6. If p > q and p2 – 2pq + q2 = 289. Find the value of p – q
Sol: (p – q)2 = p2 – 2pq + q2
  (p – q)2 = 289
  p – q =
  p – q = 17
  Grid in form is

7.
In the given figure xy = yz and xz = yx. If xy = 2.8cm what is the area of the sector? what is the angle of the sector?
Sol: xy : yz : xz
  xy : xy : xy
  1 : 1 :
  When the angles are in the ratio 1 : 1 : the angles are 45° , 45° and 90°
  The angle of sector is 360 – 45 = 315°

  Grid form of area of sector

  Grid form of angle of sector

8. If (x , y) = x2 + y2. If f(15 , y) = 625. what is the positive value of y
Sol: f(x , y) = x2 + y2
  f(15 , y) = 152 + y2
  152 + y2 = 625
  y2 = 625 – 225
  = 400
  =
  = 20
  Grid form of y = 20 is

9.
In the given figure Δ AD and CE intersect at 'O'. = 4x° , = 50. Find the value of x
Sol: In Δ ABD
  = 90°
  = 180 – (90 + 50)
  = 40
  In Δ BEC
  = 180
  4x + 90 + 40 = 180
  4x = 180 – 130
  x =
  = 12.5°
  Grid form of 12.5°

10. If f(x) = x2 + 7x + 10 then find f(2) + f(3)
Sol: f(2) = (2)2 + 7(3) + 10
  = 4 + 21 + 10
  = 35
  f(3) = (3)2 + 7(3) + 10
  = 9 + 21 + 10
  = 40
  f(2) + f(3) = 35 + 40
  = 75
  Grid in form is

11. If 3x + 4y = 25 , x – 4y = – 13 , what is the value of 100x + 99y?
Sol:
  3x + 4y = 25
  3 × 3 + 4y = 25
  4y = 16
  y = 4
  x = 3
  100x + 99y = 100 × 3 + 99 × 4
  = 300 + 396
  = 696
  Grid form is
